Patong beach is the main entertainment centre of Phuket. It is famous for its shopping and nightlife. Patong doesn't usually pick-up the swell as well as other beaches on Phuket. The surf here is not really much to talk about as it usually closes out.

The waves are fast and open to the winds. If you are going to surf at patong, the best place to look for surf at patong is at the far northern end on a small smooth day, sometimes the peaks here can get quite good. There are plenty of places to stay in Patong ranging from 12$US up, and it's a short distance to Kalim beach.
