Khao Lak in Phang Nga is a surfing
paradise which has been basically unexplored. There are reef, point
and beach breaks unridden everyday. Khao Lak is about 1.5 hours
drive north of Phuket Town.

This was obviously damaged by the tsunami in December 2004. In recent
times it is returning to be a popular tourist destination in southern
Thailand with natural rainforests,
elephant trekking, diving, white water rafting and of course surfing.
It's the step off point to the Simillan islands and Surin Islands. There
are plenty of places to
stay in Khao Lak.

The beaches are pristine and mostly
deserted. Check out these photos of a lonely point reef break, location
