In incredible one to two metre (three to six feet) conditions at Snapper Rocks, Queensland, Australia, the Quiksilver Pro Trials was run and won by 20-year-old Ben Dunn.

Dunn, hailing from Old Bar, News South Wales, Australia will now take the remaining wildcard slot in the main draw of the opening event of the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour, the Quiksilver Pro.

While seven-time Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour champion Kelly Slater (USA), three-time champion Andy Irons (HAW) and world number three and last year’s event victor Mick Fanning (AUS) will headline next week’s Quiksilver Pro to be held at Snapper Rocks in Queensland Australia, there will be huge interest in the 10 new faces who will be taking on the top tier surfing tour in 2006 for the first time.

The first event on the 2006 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Roxy Pro presented by Samsung, is promising to start with a bang, with world champion Chelsea Georgeson drawn against defending event champion Stephanie Gilmore in round one.

The titanic clash between the two Snapper Rocks locals means only one will survive past round three in the season opener. The clock is quickly ticking down for the start of the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour 2006 season opener – the Quiksilver Pro presented by Samsung – which begins in under two weeks time.

Held at Snapper Rocks on Queensland, Australia’s Gold Coast, the event will attract the top 45 rated surfers in the world including the likes of seven-time world champion Kelly Slater.
