PRAIA DA VILA, Santa Catarina/Brazil (Wednesday, April 28, 2010) – The Billabong Pro Santa Catarina put in a marathon 20 heats of competition today as Round 3 and the opening four heats of Round 4 were completed in clean three-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at Praia da Vila.

Playa Bonfil Acapulco México hosted the start of the International Circuit COPA LAS AMERICAS SURF, competitors from Brazil, Costa Rica, United States, Venezuela and Mexico, competed for the heavy glass, and the $ 1,000 prize, adding points to get to the absolute champion in the three following events, Los Cabos, Rosarito and Boca de Pascuales.

Baker, 36, pocketed US $50,000 for his incredible ride on an enormous wave which he paddled into during the Maverick’s Surf Contest at Half Moon Bay in Northern California on February 13, 2010.“This is for my country, South Africa!
