Screams of excitement explode from delighted spectators mouths as a tiny Brazilian lady on a bodyboard paddles late into a maxing 10ft Pipeline beast. She falls top to bottom, dropping head first into the barrel, and gets annihilated by the wave. Everyone fears for her life. Water patrol race in to pick her up and the crowd cheers as she is dropped on the beach. She is safe. Leila Alli smiles, thanks the patrol, hobbles down the beach a bit, and paddles back out for more.History was made for women’s bodyboarding on this day, as the biggest waves ever seen for a women’s contest were ridden. Kaua’i’s Hubbard rides Pipeline to world title

Kaua’i has another wave-riding world champion.

In the ultimate performance for bodyboarding, Jeff Hubbard of Lihu’e won the Rockstar Games Pipeline Pro and clinched the International Bodyboarding Association world championship in the process yesterday.

“It’s up there with getting married and being born,” said Hubbard, 31.

The final day of the contest was completed in spectacular barreling waves of 6 to 10 feet yesterday at the Banzai Pipeline. The Pipeline Pro is the final event of the 2006-07 world tour, and considered the most prestigious contest in the sport.”I knew if I could win this, there would be no question that I would be the world champ, and I deserved it,” Hubbard said.

Hubbard is the fourth Hawai’i competitor ever to win the bodyboarding world championship, and the first since Mike Stewart of Kailua, Kona, won the last of his record nine championships in 1995.… Read the rest

Between tomorrow and Sunday we will know who the Masters World Champions are, the Porta del Sol ISA World Masters Surfing Championships, that is taking place since last Sunday at Rincón, Puerto Rico, will come to an end.

After four full days of competition, two teams have shown a great performance and they are now fighting for first place in team positioning. Up to now Puerto Rico is in first place because its still have all their its athletes on the run. STEPHANIE PETTERSEN WINS MIYAZAKI CONTEST

Stephanie Pettersen wins Miyazaki contest scoring 10 in the finals.

With 70 girls between professional and amateur women’s riders today ended the IBA Regional and the second last JBA event for 2006 at Miyazaki Japan.

There were two days of competition with women’s, men’s and dk division. With Huge Typhoon passing through just a day before the contest, it delivered some big surf up to 5 to 6 feet for the morning of the first day of competition, making many people surprised as it dropped fast through out the day.The sand banks didn’t really handle the swell making it difficult to find good waves but at least the wind held back giving some clean conditions for the morning with light onshore winds for the afternoon. There were some good waves surfed by the professional riders and the amateur riders with even some of the worlds best finding it hard paddling out to the peak for the early morning heats.… Read the rest
