SANTA CRUZ, California/USA (Wednesday, October 31, 2012) – The world’s best surfers have arrived in Santa Cruz, California for the penultimate event of the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT) season, the O’Neill Cold Water Classic at the iconic Steamer Lane.

A staple of the ASP’s qualifying circuit, the O’Neill Cold Water Classic has been sanctioned at the elite level of competition this season, celebrating the brand’s 60th anniversary of operations. ECSC TO INDUCT SIX INDIVIDUALS INTO LOCAL SURFING LEGENDS HALL OF FAME

(VIRGINIA BEACH, VA) – Six individuals will be inducted into the Surfing Legends of ECSC Hall of Fame as the annual weeklong summer beach sports festival gears up at the oceanfront. A special induction ceremony will take place in their honor at the Virginia Aquarium on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m.

Established by the Virginia Beach Jaycees in 2005, the Surfing Legends of ECSC Hall of Fame consists of men and women who have helped the sport of surfing from Hampton Roads and along the East Coast and who have also played a role in the growth and success of the annual Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships (CE-ECSC) presented by Vans.

ASP World Title Possibilities Heading into Season-Ending Billabong Pipe Masters

COOLANGATTA, Queensland/Australia (Wednesday, November 7, 2012) – Event No. 9 of 10 on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), the O’Neill Coldwater Classic at Santa Cruz’s Steamer Lane, has been completed and won by Taj Burrow (AUS), 34.

Heading into the final event of the season, the Billabong Pipe Masters, three surfers remain mathematically in contention for the 2012 ASP World Title: Joel Parkinson (AUS), 31, Kelly Slater (USA), 40, and Mick Fanning (AUS), 31.

Due to the altered format for the Billabong Pipe Masters, all three surfers will automatically be seeded into Round 3 of competition and finish no worse than Equal 13th (1750 points).
