[i]Right after the bombings of 01 october in Kuta and Jimbaran, IDEP
Foundation(www.IDEPfoundation.org) got in charge of the crisis center, just like they did in 2002.
IDEP is an Indonesian non-profit foundation that was established in Bali in 1999, at the height of Indonesias economic crisis. IDEPs objective was to respond to urgent needs for sustainable food production and resource management, while conveying the importance of environmental education for sustainable living.
[/i]In 2001 IDEP launched a Community Based Crisis Response Program to help
local Indonesian communities to be more prepared for and to better manage
disasters… which proved efficient and visionary in 2002, after the
bombings that killed 202 people and left the toursim-based economy in poor
shape.
Now, under IDEP’s initiative, the balinese community is building-up
emergency and crisis management procedures for the future, to improve rescue
as well as support the injured locals in the long term, whatever the
