The morning started with the DK semis with Dave Hubbard and Kim Feast, taking DUB the best out of it moving to the final. In semi 2 Micah McMullin faced current world champ Cesar Bauer. McMullin had a strong start, unfortunately his board delaminated and had to go in and get a different board.Meanwhile Bauer took advantage and score a couple of good rides taking the heat and moving to the DK final vs. Dave Hubbard.

The female semis were nothing but pure adrenaline. Eunate Aguirre was up against Maira Viana. Maira and her powerful style was taking off on the big ones trying to roll on the most critical sections, unfortunately did not landed her moves leaving the door open for Eunate who was patiently waiting for the perfect ones and finding a clean barrel to roll to take the heat.… Read the rest

NEW MISS REEF CROWNED DURING THE 2010 COASTAL EDGE ECSC

Miss Reef Contest

(Carlsbad, CA) September 1- 2010 – A bevy of Miss Reef hopefuls graced the stage at the 2010 Miss Reef Contest this past weekend, but only one contestant took home the coveted title.

Simply going by her first name, Natalia, the Argentine was officially crowned Miss Reef as she won over thousands of spectators and judges at the Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships. Natalia won her share of $2000 in prizes, and will fly to Hawaii in November to compete at the Miss Reef Hawaiian Pro during the first stop of the Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing.

The Miss Reef contest held during the ECSC was a worldly event with contestants representing from up and down the Eastern seaboard, and as far away as Panama, Brazil and Argentina. The venue for the planet’s greatest event in Masters Surfing, the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship (WMSC) has been named. The perfect waves of Santa Catalina, on the north Pacific coast of Panama will see the best over 35 year-old surfers from all over the world from August 29 to September 5.After having an inaugural WMSC in Rincón, Puerto Rico in 2007 and a successful second edition in the powerful waves of Punta Rocas, Peru, in 2008, the Masters family will gather together again, this time in the wave rich nation of Panama to compete for the world title in the following divisions:

-Masters (Over 35)

-Women Masters (Over 35)

-Grand Masters (Over 40)

-Kahunas (Over 45)

-Grand Kahunas (Over 50)

Aussies stop two years of South African supremacy

Australia won the Team Gold Medal in the Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship in clean, well shaped 5 to 7 foot waves. Heather Clark (RSA), Andrew Banks (RSA), Juan Ashton (PUR), Rod Baldwin (AUS) and Chris Knutsen (RSA) won the Gold Medal in the individual divisions.

ISA Surfing Chanpionship

The Aussie team’s title came after an intense and tight battle with South Africa. A mere difference of less than 300 points gave the first ISA Masters World Championship to the Aussies, stopping two years of African supremacy.

Gold: Australia – 10456 points
Silver: South Africa – 10196 points
Bronze: Brazil – 8770 points
