All 24 National Teams will Parade Through the Streets of Soná and the Games will Officially be Declared Open

The 2013 Reef ISA World Surfing Games in Panama begins today with the Opening Ceremony, featuring the traditional Parade of Nations and Sands of the World Ceremony, followed by the official Press Conference.

All 24 National Teams and over 150 participating athletes and team officials will gather in the Province of Veraguas, an hour drive from Santa Catalina, to parade down the streets of the town of Soná, in front of government officials, and thousands of local spectators and supporters of surfing.“All… Read the rest

BANZAI PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii (Friday, December 14, 2012) – Joel Parkinson (AUS), 31, has claimed his maiden ASP World Title today at the final stop of the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT) season, by winning the Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons. The Billabong Pipe Masters was also the third and final leg of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing series.

BARRA DA TIJUCA, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil (Sunday, May 19, 2013) -Jordy Smith (ZAF), 25, has won the Billabong Rio Pro in a hard-fought final over national favorite Adriano de Souza (BRA), 26, by a score of 17.80 to 16.34 in clean two-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at Barra Da Tijuca.

Pierre-Louis Costes (FRA) has won the NMD/VS Fronton PRO

Galdar, Friday 14th December 2012 – Pierre-Louis Costes (FRA) has won the NMD/VS Fronton PRO 2012 in pumping 6- 10 foot heaving barrels at Fronton today, defeating an in form Jared Houston (ZAF) in the final.

Houston seemed to have a strangle hold on the frenchman early in the heat, posting a 9.25 on his first wave for a huge barrel to backflip and backing it up with a lofty invert on another set wave.

Under the pressure, the Frenchman rose to the challenge, taking off on a draining right-hander, executing a flawless spin inside the tube and exiting the barrel with a lofty backflip over the shallow reef, scoring a near perfect 9.83, giving him a fighting chance to win the final.Now only requiring a mid 7 score to gain the lead, Costes scooped into a deep barrel and exited with speed and control to earn himself a 7.93 and a narrow lead over the South African until the final buzzer sounded.… Read the rest
