Oakley Pro Bali Joins 2013 ASP World Championship Tour

KERAMAS, Bali/Indonesia (Monday, February 4, 2013) – ASP International is pleased to announce the sanctioning of the Oakley Pro Bali at Keramas as an ASP World Championship Tour (WCT) license for 2013. The event will be the fifth of 10 events on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour and the first elite tour event in Indonesia since the Rip Curl Pro Search in 2008.

Sally Fitzgibbons (Aust) has begun her 2013 season

Burleigh Heads/Australia: Saturday February 9 2013: Sally Fitzgibbons (Aust) has begun her 2013 season in flying form by winning the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star rated Breaka Burleigh Pro on the Gold Coast today.

Fitzgibbons defeated world ranked number five surfer Courtney Conlogue (USA) in a tense high scoring final on a scoreline of 16.00 to 15.90.

Conlogue led for most of the final and looked in complete control after she locked-in an excellent 8:00 ride early and backed it up shortly after with a strong 7.90 ride.

With just on six minutes remaining in the 30-minute final Fitzgibbons, requiring a very high score of 8.9 to take the lead, found a good wave and unleashed a series of well connected powerful trade mark bottom-through-top-turn manoeuvres to score 9 points and take the win.“I knew what I had to do late in the final and thankfully the wave co operated and delivered the potential required to get the score – I felt I got the score when I landed the last move, gave myself a fist pump I was that confident” said Fitzgibbons.… Read the rest

SURFERS PARADISE, Queensland/Australia (Friday, March 1, 2013) – The world’s best surfers congregated last night at the QT Hotel in Surfers Paradise to celebrate the 2013 ASP World Surfing Awards, officially crowning last year’s ASP World Champions and welcoming in the new year.

Joel Parkinson (AUS), 31, long considered to be a threat to the ASP World Title ever since his inception amongst the world’s elite over a decade ago, was awarded his maiden crown last night.
