Bodyboard contest at San Vicente
\n\u0093Bodyboarders mindelenses unidos, jamais ser\u00e3o vencidos\u0094<\/p>\n
Bodyboarders from Cabo Verde, S\u00e3o Vicente Island, working as volunteers will be organizing an independent Bodyboard contest in April at Praia Grande. The event is not going to be sanctioned by the National Governing Body, the Skibosurf Surf Club, but the initiative is totally supported by the Club.With the note \u0093Bodyboarders mindelenses unidos, jamais ser\u00e3o vencidos \u0096Mindelenses Bodyborders united will never be defeated-\u0094, the group of bodyboarders decided to hold the contest in order to keep working for the sport of the island. <\/p>\n
According to Jorge Freitas, Director of Skibosurf, \u0093Is a great initiative, this spontaneous contest because in the present we don\u0092t have much time to make everything involved in getting a contest done because of our jobs and responsibilities”.<\/p>\n
Jason Macarenhas made it to the second round at Pipe
\nCabo Verde\u00b4s bodyboarder Jason Macarenhas made it to the second round of the Rock Star Games, making history for his country, after he placed second in a heat that had: <\/p>\n

National Contest
\nThe last National Surf and Bodyboard competition held at Cabo Verde, took place in Sandy Beach, S\u00e3o Vicente on August, 2006. It was organized exclusively by SkiBoSurf. According to Jorge Freitas, the event was a total success, \u0093even without lack of media and industry support\u0094. <\/p>\n

National Surfing Tour, why a utopia?
\nNGB Director, Jorge Freitas explained to the ISA: \u0093A National Surfing Tour is like a utopia for us because we are not yet organized in the islands where we have most important surfing communities and the best surfers and bodyboarders like Sal, S\u00e3o Vicente and Santiago. The only surfing association that works is ours. There are surfers working for the sport, but they don\u0092t represent any association.<\/p>\n
Also, we don\u0092t have partners in our club but we still \u0093survive\u0094 doing contests, getting some local sponsors and even foreign sponsors, like from Portugal where sometimes they send us boards, vests, T shirts, for our local championships.\u0094<\/p>\n
Give a Board Project
\nThe \u0093Projecto Doe uma Prancha \u0096Give a board project-\u0094 started last year at Cabo Verde, to help those surfers that don\u0092t have a surfboard or money to buy one. The Skibosurf Club looked for second hand boards and with the help of a Portuguese surf shop, and an ex Portuguese professional Bodyboard Champ, they gave six boards in 2006.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
