Haley Kerry Crowned Miss Surfest 2009<\/p>\n

IT WAS a case of third time lucky for newly crowned Miss Surfest 2009 Hayley Kerry.<\/p>\n
Hayley, a 23-year-old retail assistant who hails from Tarro north of Newcastle, has entered the Ms Surfest competition for the past three years.<\/p>\n
Last night she went one better than her runner-up finish in 2008 by securing a win over second-placed Becky Lamb from Georgetown, Newcastle and third-placed Kristylee Waine from Toukley on the New South Wales Central Coast.<\/p>\n
Hayley, who works as a retail assistant at Westfield Kotara, was crowned last night at a packed Fannys nightclub.A former contestant in Miss Indy and Best Model Australia, Hayley reckons she came to this year\u2019s contest with more knowledge of what it takes to impress the judges.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year I was better prepared and I came with the desire to take home the crown,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was bit nervous but I had a great time \u2013everyone has been really nice and Miss Surfest is run really well.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe thing about Miss Surfest that all the girls are really comfortable with is that it has a great reputation and respects all the girls.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hayley\u2019s whopping list of prizes include $1000 from Fannys, jewellery worth $1500 from Bayside Jewellers at Nelson Bay, hair care from Pandoras worth $1500, sunglasses worth $800 plus clothing from Von Zipper, $750 worth of swimwear from Alex Norrie, a surfboard worth $750 from Chick Sticks, a photographic shoot worth $1500 from Capture Imaging, $500 worth of beauty treatments from Bdazzled and a clothing pack worth $500 from Wild Surf Co.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
