British Bodyboard Club announce mini-tour to decide British Champion.
\nThe British Bodyboard Club are set to launch a tour of 4 events to decide the 2010 Open Champion it was announced today. <\/p>\n
Chairman Rich Hall said \u201cthe concept of deciding the British Champion via a series of events rather than a single one has been in discussion for some time\u201d. <\/p>\n
He continued \u201cthe BSA has given us the freedom to explore the options and are quite happy to support us in this; so we\u2019re going to progress the idea this year\u201d. <\/p>\n
The 4 proposed events are:
\nThe Sorted Surf Reef competition at Boscombe on March 20-21,
\nThe Tolcarne Wedge Air Jam in July\/August
\nThe Greenaway Pro in St Ives in September
\nThe British Nationals at Porthtowan in September\/October.Rich said \u201cwe\u2019re going to be teaming up with other organisations and\/or competitions initially for 2 of the events; but will be providing the judges and backup to \u2018sanction\u2019 those competitions. <\/p>\n
The first 3 events will be scored as regular events with 500 points for the winner, whilst the Nationals will be an IBA style \u2018grand-slam\u2019 event with 1,000 points available.\u201d <\/p>\n
If the experiment is successful, the plan will be to roll out the tour to wider geographical venues in 2011.<\/p>\n
The Nationals event will still decide the age and discipline divisions, with the usual entry restrictions. <\/p>\n
The events will be open to all comers, but only those eligible to enter the British Nationals can accrue points towards becoming the Open British Championship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
