I’ve never had much man on man experience. I learned a lot from last year’s win.”

In addition to the comfort of competing on Oahu, Sallas also feels that the wave at Makaha suits his polished style.

“I surf Makaha quite a bit,” Sallas said. “I love that wave and I think it’s a great wave for longboarding. It’s a long wave that isn’t hollow but still gives you a lot of speed to work with. It isn’t too fast down the line either which allows you to do really big drawn out turns. Especially round house cut backs which I feel are one of my strongest maneuvers.”

For live scores, photos, info and more on the Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships log on to http://www.oxbowavesliders.com/

For additional ASP information log on to www.aspworldtour.com or www.aspnorthamerica.org

Oxbow ASP World Longboard Champion Decided at Makaha Pictured: Taylor Jensen (USA), 27, is a top seed in this year’s Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships.
