Bobby Martinez Claims Billabong Pro Tahiti Over Taj Burrow

TEAHUPOO, Tahiti (Tuesday, May 19, 2009) – Bobby Martinez (USA), 26, has taken out the Billabong Pro Tahiti presented by Air Tahiti Nui, defeating fellow Finalist Taj Burrow (AUS), 30, in clean three-to-five foot (1.5 metre) waves at Teahupoo.

Event No. 3 of 10 on the 2009 ASP World Tour, the Billabong Pro Tahiti survived a marathon waiting period, culminating on the second-to-last available day in improving conditions that peaked for a climactic Final.

Martinez surfed a near-flawless heat, opening up with an impressive 8.73 out of a possible 10 before putting his opponent in a combination situation with a Houdini-esque 9.73 out of a possible 10. Big Names Visit Perth for ASP Grade-4 Chill Pro Junior

TRIGG POINT, Western Australia (Tuesday, 26, 2009) – Trigg Point, Western Australia will host some of Australia’s best junior surfing talents for the upcoming Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Grade-4 Men’s and Grade-1 Womenls Chill Pro Junior presented by the City of Stirling.

Veterans Lopez and Logie Feature as Final 24 Decided at SriLankan Airlines Pro

PASTA POINT, Maldives (Thursday, June 10, 2009) – Veteran ASP World Tour surfers Cory Lopez (USA) and Travis Logie (South Africa) conquered the windswept conditions as the final 24 surfers were decided at the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 6-Star PRIME rated Sri Lankan Airlines Pro in the Maldives today.

Today’s strong cross-shore winds rendered the waves extremely conducive to high-performance surfing and excellent scores were plentiful throughout the day with the pointbreak wave providing multiple powerful sections for surfers to perform big manuevers.
