Posted on December 9, 2011

Six times world champion, Brazilian Guilherme Tamega, went over to his long time adversary and gave him a long hug. Mike Stewart, the nine times world champion from Hawaii, has competed at the highest level of bodyboarding since the early 90s, lost two heats in a row and, as a consequence, did not requalify for next year’s world tour. ISA World Bodyboarding Championship
Galdar, Canary Island, Spain
November 30 – December 4

The International Surfing Association is proud to announce the first edition of the ISA World Bodyboarding Championship. The event is confirmed to take place at the waves of El Frontón and la Guancha (Galdar City) in the Canary Islands, Spain from November 30 until December 4, 2011.
The ISA World Bodyboarding Championship was conceived to give all the bodyboarders in the world their own event to demonstrate their excellence. After two years of evaluating venues, the Executive Committee of the ISA decided that the “European Hawaii” was the right place to make this happen.
“We’re proud to launch this new ISA signature event,” said ISA President, Fernando Aguerre. “Just like in 2003 when the ISA launched our Juniors-only event and it was a huge success, we’re confident the WBC will have a great turnout.… Read the rest
