EPIC CONDITIONS FOR THE FIRST DAY OF ACTION OF ZICATELA PRO 2010. HEAT OF THE DAY WAS PERFORMED BY FORMER WORLD CHAMP CLAUDIA FERRARI AND BRAZIL’S STANDOUT MAIRA VIANA.

PUERTO ESCONDIDO, OAXACA – (July 29th, 2010) – First day of action was held in epic conditions. Perfect 2-4 feet barrels and great offshore winds. Once again Puerto Escondido delivers the best waves for all the competitorsThe best heat of the day had former world champ Claudia Ferrari and Maira Viana from Brazil. The heat started slowly with a long low, but as soon as the first set came, Maira Viana took the lead with a committed through the lip El Rollo and got a high score. PUERTO ESCONDIDO, OAXACA – (August 4th, 2010) – The last day of competition was the most exciting day of all.

The morning started with the DK semis with Dave Hubbard and Kim Feast, taking DUB the best out of it moving to the final. In semi 2 Micah McMullin faced current world champ Cesar Bauer. McMullin had a strong start, unfortunately his board delaminated and had to go in and get a different board.Meanwhile Bauer took advantage and score a couple of good rides taking the heat and moving to the DK final vs. Dave Hubbard.

The female semis were nothing but pure adrenaline. Eunate Aguirre was up against Maira Viana. Maira and her powerful style was taking off on the big ones trying to roll on the most critical sections, unfortunately did not landed her moves leaving the door open for Eunate who was patiently waiting for the perfect ones and finding a clean barrel to roll to take the heat.… Read the rest

British Bodyboard Club 2010 Tour Announced

British Bodyboard Club announce mini-tour to decide British Champion.
The British Bodyboard Club are set to launch a tour of 4 events to decide the 2010 Open Champion it was announced today.

Chairman Rich Hall said “the concept of deciding the British Champion via a series of events rather than a single one has been in discussion for some time”.

He continued “the BSA has given us the freedom to explore the options and are quite happy to support us in this; so we’re going to progress the idea this year”.

The 4 proposed events are:
The Sorted Surf Reef competition at Boscombe on March 20-21,
The Tolcarne Wedge Air Jam in July/August
The Greenaway Pro in St Ives in September
The British Nationals at Porthtowan in September/October.Rich said “we’re going to be teaming up with other organisations and/or competitions initially for 2 of the events; but will be providing the judges and backup to ‘sanction’ those competitions.… Read the rest

The first official day of competition has run at the 2010 Turbo Bodyboards Pipeline Pro Presented by Body Glove.

This multi-cultural bodyboarding event attracts competitors from all four corners of the globe, with Brazil, USA, France, Australia, Israel, South Africa and Canada among the many.

Waves were large in the 6 to 8 feet range and winds varied from light offshore to strong cross shore, pushing the riders in a variety of testing waves.

Drew Innocend of Queensland Australia, was the most impressive surfer of the day.

Innocend notched up a 17.60 combined wave total in his round three heat, the highest of the day. This included a near perfect 9.83 score for being spat out

of a huge Backdoor Barrell and launching into a massive backflip. All of Innocend’s waves were executed with a beautiful precision.… Read the rest

A picture perfect day with flawless waves and the worlds best riders all pushing the boundaries of the sport to new levels.

The day started with the WWT opening rounds and the girls were challenged with some break-neck conditions coming off an early low tide.1999 World Champion Karl Costa-Taylor (Brazil) was the rounds best scorer with some steep drops and deep tube rides.Hot on her heels was Natasha Sardardia (PRC) and Isabella Sousa (Brazil)

All of these girls charged the reef at Confital with tons of style and not a hint of fear.By lunchtime the tide had rolled in and the surf was beyond perfect and a massive crowd gathered to watch the Men’s R9 man-on-man heats go down.… Read the rest
