comes together tonight, September 8, at 5pm and 8pm Pacific Time on Fuel… 

Channel surfing for something to watch tonight? Tune into the Fuel TV and Quiksilver
produced documentary, following the 2008 Quiksilver ISA Junior World Surfing
Championship, airing at 5:00pm and 8:00pm Pacific Time on Fuel TV. The show
documents the experiences of five of the world top young surfers as they go
through the emotional ups and downs of competition, while striving for the common
goal of taking home the top honor in international surfing.

World Surfing Games are around the corner

World Surfing Games are around the corner

The ISA World Surfing Games, one of the most important surf competitions, are less than one month away. The host Portuguese beaches are already feeling the great spectacle that is soon to be: the ISA World Surfing Games that will happen from October 11-19 in the beautiful waves of Costa de Caparica.

Approximately 300 surfers from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Tahiti, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Uruguay and the host nation, Portugal, will dispute medals in the following categories:

-Open Men –four members per team-
-Open Women –two members per team-
-Bodyboard Men -two members per team-
-Bodyboard Women –one member per team

(Friday 4th, April 2008): Punta Rocas turned it on for the world’s premier masters surfers aged 35-years and older today, serving up ideal 2-metre right hand point break waves for a sunny day five of the 2008 ISA World Masters Surfing Championships in Peru.

Getting underway beneath blue skies and light offshore winds, finalists across main qualifying and repercharge rounds of the Masters (Over 25), Grand Masters (Over 40), Kahunas (Over 45), Grand Kahunas (Over 50) and Masters Women’s (Over 35) divisions were decided.South American surfers stole the show with the Peruvian duo of Jorge Posso and Magoo De La Rosa scoring big wins in their respective round four heats.

Posso, a Punta Rocas local, caused the upset of the day, beating South African heavyweights Marc Wright and Nick Pike to blast his way through to the final of the Kahunas division.… Read the rest

It is already the end for certain nations. From the 28 countries that are competing at the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Championships, 4 were eliminated today. Half of the competitors of this Quiksilver ISAWorld JuniorChampionships will definitely be out of the competition this evening.

The major surf nations like Australia, Brazil, USA, New Zealand, Hawaii and South Africa continue with their teams intact. The high level of surfing at this World Championships illustrates the unbelievable quality and depth of this generation all aged under 18.Easy victories went to Alejo Muniz (Bra) and Owen Wright (Aus) who scored the highest heat score of his U18 round, 18,6 out of a possible 20. Courtney Conlogue (USA) in the girls also scored 17 points, a record for her round.… Read the rest

ISA NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATION FOR 2008 JUNIOR SURF SCHOLARSHIPS

San Diego, Calif. – October 11, 2007 – The International Surfing Association (ISA), the World Governing Authority for Surfing, is now accepting applications for the ISA Individual Scholarship Program. In 2008, twenty Scholarships will be awarded to junior surfers around the world.

The Scholarship Program is open to all junior surfers, ages 18 and under. Applicants must prove financial need, be enrolled in school in good standing, and be an inspirational role model to the surfing community.The ISA Individual Scholarship Program’s main objective is to provide financial support in order to facilitate an experience in surfing while encouraging the importance of education. The money must be used to travel to surf contests, and/or buy new equipment and to foster their education. Additionally, the program offers added incentive for national surfing federations to send teams to ISA events, furthering the reach of surfing, as scholarship recipients can use the experience to become better surfers, potential national champions and, even possibly, world champions while continuing with their education.… Read the rest
