PHILLIP ISLAND, AUSTRALIA (Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008) – The 2008 ASP Womens World Qualifying Series tour kicks off with a bang at Woolamai Beach, Phillip Island, in Southern Australia this morning, with the 6-Star ASP World Qualifying Series Roxy Pro Women’s Surfing Festival.Seventy-two surfers representing nine countries will take part in the highest rated event on the ASP Womens World Qualifying Series tour, which holds a prize money purse of US$ 35, 000 as well as valuable ASP ratings points.

MEXICO ANNOUNCES THE FIRST PROFESSIONAL SURFING CIRCUIT, THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008

After a 40-year history of surfing as a sport practiced in Mexico, and the emergence of a number of surfing champions and legends in the country, THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008 has been organized by a group of Mexican leaders under the direction of General Director Mario Dillanes, with the intention of bringing a professional surfing circuit event to various beaches along Mexican coastlines where good surfing conditions can commonly be found.THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008 was born with the vision of encouraging and increasing the competitive level of surfers through a series of continuous events during the year on Mexican beaches.
