Virginia Beach, VA (March 28, 2012) – The 50th anniversary edition of the Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships (CE-ECSC), North America’s oldest surf contest, gains even more prestige as the Pro division, the Vans Pro, is designated as an Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 6-Star event and the Vans Pro Junior contest is upgraded to a 6-Star ASP Junior Qualifying event.

STEEL PIER CLASSIC PRESENTED BY COASTAL EDGE GETS SET TO GET WET Four Pro Divisions, Amateur Contest Color the Beach Next Weekend

(VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – May 20, 2011) – The Steel Pier Classic (SPC) & Surf Art Expo presented by Coastal Edge announce the competitive divisions and prize purses for next weekend’s annual Memorial Day surf contest and art show.

More than 300 amateur and professional surfers from all over the United States are expected to compete in the three-day surfing contest held near the First Street Jetty at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Russell Hughes – RIP

Another great legend of the early longboard days of the glorious sixties era of surfing in Australia has passed away.

Sad news this week beginning to filter in as we learned that sixties and seventies reclusive stylist, Russell Hughes, has ridden his final wave.

After several battles with Cancer over the years, Russell aged 64, passed away this past week in Quebec, Canada, the home country of his surviving long time French Canadian partner, Monik Roy.

Originally from Brisbane in Queensland, Russell started his involvement with surfing and love of the ocean with the Surfers Paradise Surf Lifesaving Club.
