Day 4 at Confital will go down in bodyboarding folklore.


A picture perfect day with flawless waves and the worlds best riders all pushing the boundaries of the sport to new levels.

The day started with the WWT opening rounds and the girls were challenged with some break-neck conditions coming off an early low tide.1999 World Champion Karl Costa-Taylor (Brazil) was the rounds best scorer with some steep drops and deep tube rides.Hot on her heels was Natasha Sardardia (PRC) and Isabella Sousa (Brazil)

All of these girls charged the reef at Confital with tons of style and not a hint of fear.By lunchtime the tide had rolled in and the surf was beyond perfect and a massive crowd gathered to watch the Men’s R9 man-on-man heats go down.… Read the rest

Jeff Hubbard & Neymara Carvalho win World titles…

What a nail biting finish to another amazing year.
The swell had dropped overnight but Confital was still serving up some perfect right-hander’s for the showdown of the year.

Both Neymara and Jeff had been eliminated prior to the final and the cards would have to fall in a perfect combination if they were to be crowned again.

First GT, then Hardy, then Winny then it was just the two Hawaiian’s that could become the 2009 IBA world Champion.

Jeff watched on as Mike Stewart entered the water to create history as a 10-time world champion, one of the greatest achievements in modern sporting history, but he had a formidable opponent to get past in Hugo Pinheiro.… Read the rest

HONOLUA BAY, Maui/Hawaii (Wednesday, December 9, 2009) – Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 21, took out the final stop on the 2009 ASP Women’s World Tour today, the Billabong Pro Maui, in clean four-to-six foot (1.5 metre) conditions at the iconic pointbreak of Honolua Bay over Sofia Mulanovich (PER), 26, clinching her third consecutive Billabong Pro Maui title after three years of competition at the premier event.
