Ewan Donnachie is the 2009 Nomad Shark Island Challenge Champion

Shark Island, Cronulla (Saturday, August 1st, 2009) – Ewan Donnachie from Sydney’s Northern Beaches has won The 2009 Nomad Shark Island Challenge in clean 1 – 1.5m conditions to claim first prize of $10,000 over an accumulated two round points system.

Since the completion of Round 1 back on the 12th of July, riders and officials have been on stand-by waiting in anticipation for the second round to commence. The weeks that followed saw small to flat condition as Sydney basked in a stable weather pattern. Angelo Lozano was awarded as the surfer of the year

Angelo Lozano was awarded as the surfer of the year. The Mexican Surfing Federation awarded the charger from Puerto Escondido because of his triumph in the PXM International Vans Pro. Lozano received the award during the closing of the national surf circuit.“I’m really happy for this acknowledgement, this is for my triumph in the ALAS in El Salvador and for the WQS in Puerto last year. The federation rewarded also Diego Cadena and Dylan Southworth for their good performances during this year. Now, I’m going to Costa Rica to represent my country with an extra motivation” said Angelo to Surfpress from California.

The Mexican surfer was competing in the trials of the oldest North American Surfing event, the Hurley US Open of Surfing. Angelo lacked two heats to reach the main event.… Read the rest

Team USA wins the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games in Costa Rica for the first time in 13 Years

It was a fitting end to an event steeped in a mix of camaraderie and tough competition as Team USA took the overall gold medal today over Team France at the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games presented by Monster Energy in Costa Rica. It was the first time that the Americans have won an overall gold medal in since the 1996 World Surfing Games in Huntington Beach, California.
