MEXICO ANNOUNCES THE FIRST PROFESSIONAL SURFING CIRCUIT, THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008

After a 40-year history of surfing as a sport practiced in Mexico, and the emergence of a number of surfing champions and legends in the country, THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008 has been organized by a group of Mexican leaders under the direction of General Director Mario Dillanes, with the intention of bringing a professional surfing circuit event to various beaches along Mexican coastlines where good surfing conditions can commonly be found.THE AMERICAS PRO AM CUP 2008 was born with the vision of encouraging and increasing the competitive level of surfers through a series of continuous events during the year on Mexican beaches. IMBITUBA, Brazil (Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007) – Current World No. 3 Taj Burrow (AUS) will join 2007 Foster’s ASP World Title campaigners Mick Fanning (AUS) and Kelly Slater (USA) in Round 3 after winning his Round 1 Hang Loose Santa Catarina Pro heat this morning.

The remaining six heats of Round 1 and the first six heats of Round 2 were completed in Imbituba before uncooperative winds forced officials to call off competition for the remainder of the day. Luke Munro (AUS) posted the highest heat scores of the day to take down ASP World Tour rookie Dane Reynolds in Rd 1.

COOLANGATTA, Australia (Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008) – Luke Munro (AUS) may not be the most prominent of the local surfers competing in the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast pres. by LG, but he did take center stage on the opening day of 2008 ASP World Tour competition at Duranbah Beach today.Munro scored the highest wave (9.50 out of 10.00) and heat total (17.50 out of 20.00) of the round to take out ASP World Tour rookie Dane Reynolds (USA) and Damien Hobgood (USA) in three foot (one metre) waves at the Snapper Rocks back-up venue.… Read the rest

China ‘s tidal bore, known as the Silver Dragon is the greatest on the planet with 8.9 meters tidal range max.
After 1988’s debatable success to ride the bore (UK Stuart Matthews rode the bore for 11 sec’ in the whitewater), a team of French, Brazilian and Italian riders managed to ride several waves at different locations on the Qiantang river, about 2hours from Shanghai, People’s Republic of China.
