In incredible one to two metre (three to six feet) conditions at Snapper Rocks, Queensland, Australia, the Quiksilver Pro Trials was run and won by 20-year-old Ben Dunn.

Dunn, hailing from Old Bar, News South Wales, Australia will now take the remaining wildcard slot in the main draw of the opening event of the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour, the Quiksilver Pro.

In excellent long-winding Snapper Rocks waves the favourites of the Quiksilver Pro presented by Samsung really stepped up to the plate to shine in their respective heats in the opening round of the first event on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour.

The first day of the Roxy Pro saw the 2006 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Women’s World Tour kick off with a bang, or more specifically, a crash here at Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast of Australia.

Event favorites Chelsea Georgeson (AUS) and Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), who are the reigning ASP world champion and Roxy Pro champion respectively, accidentally collided at the end of their highly anticipated heat three clash.”There wasn’t much time left and I had been falling off on all the other waves so I was just waiting for that one good one,” said Georgeson who swapped spots on the leader board with Gilmore several times throughout the 30-minute heat, but ultimately came out on top.… Read the rest

Torrential rains and gale force gusts are toppling trees on Australia’s Gold Coast this morning.

Also felled are any plans to resume action on the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro events presented by Samsung, the first events on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour and ASP Women’s World Tour.
