ANGELO LOZANO SHOWED HIS TALENT IN THE WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
During last January, Angelo Lozano became the first Mexican surfer who participated in the Junior World Cup that is organized by the ASP. The Billabong ASP World Junior Championship took place in Narrabeen, Sydney and gathered together an exclusive list of the most important 45 athletes who are less than 21 years old. Lozano obtained an International Wildcard by the ASP and finished the Championship on the 17th place of the ranking. An outstanding performance for a young man of 20 years old, with an entire career waiting for him, and who is the pride of Puerto Escondido.Adan Hernández, José Manuel Trujillo, Christian Corzo and Angelo Lozano had been the athletes chosen by the ASP to determine who would be Mexicos representative in the Championship. Finally, it was Lozanos honour to represent his country. Lozano showed really happy when he realized that. And so, the Squalo team member had to prepare his boards and luggage to fly to Australian lands.
Talking to Surfpress, the Mexican surfer said: I think I could do even better, but in the heat against Matt Wilko Wilkinson, australian favourite, there werent many waves and he chose the best ones. I think that anything can happen in 20 minutes of a heat on those tipe of conditions and surfing level, no matter who are you competing with, all the participants are great surfers. At this stage, its a question of being more intelligent and being lucky to catch the waves. I feel very proud of giving this 17th place to Mexico.
As well as participating in the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships, Lozano visited different Australian waves like Snapper Rocks and Duranbah Beach (Gold Coast) among others. On the later, he took part of the “Rip Curl King of Coolly”, where he was interviewed by Mark Flanagan(Rip Curl event manager). Angelo answered different questions about the Rip Curl Search that took place last year in Mexico, and about his participation in the Trials of the Fosters ASP World Champonship tour on that stop. The interview would be on the promotional video of the Rip Curl Search WCT which will be carried out in Chile this year.
TOWARDS CHILE
Next February the 16th, Angelo Lozano will be competing in the Reef Classic Chile, which is the second stop of the ALAS tour of 2007. It will take place in Reñacas waves, and it will be the first time of this year in the Latin tour. This year the member of the squalo team will have double participation in the Latin tour, because of the modifications ALAS made in the Junior division (now it will be called Junior Pro and the participants have to be younger than 21 years old) Angelo will compete in the Open and Junior divisions at the same time.
I had to choose not to participate at the Mexpipe of Puerto Escondido so that I didnt miss the ALAS date. This year, Im focusing on the international level and the ALAS tour is a good chance to prove it. Thats why I will be participating in the Open and Junior divisions throughout this year said to Surfpress this promising surfer.

ÁNGELO LOZANO DEMOSTRÓ SU TALENTO EN EL MUNDIAL JUNIOR
Durante el pasado mes de enero, Ángelo Lozano se convirtió en el primer surfista mexicano en participar en un mundial para menores organizado por la ASP, el Billabong ASP World Junior Championships se desarrolló en Narrabeen, Sydney y reunió a una selecta lista conformada por los 45 atletas menores de 21 años más importantes del surfing global. Lozano obtuvo una International Wildcard otorgado por la ASP y terminó el campeonato ubicado en el puesto 17, una destacada actuación para el joven de 20 años orgullo de Puerto Escondido quien tiene una gran carrera por delante.
Adan Hernández, José Manuel Trujillo, Christian Corzo y Ángelo Lozano habían sido la nómina de atletas elegidos por ASP para determinar quien sería el representante de México, finalmente el honor recayó sobre los hombros de Lozano quien se mostró sumamente feliz al conocer la noticia. Es así como el integrante del team Squalo debió preparar sus tablas y equipaje para volar a tierras australianas.
En declaraciones a Surfpress el surfista mexicano comentó lo siguiente: Creo que me podría haber ido mejor aún, pero en la serie contra Matt Wilko Wilkinson, favorito australiano, hubieron muy pocas olas y al final él eligió las mejores, creo que a ese nivel y en 20 minutos de serie todo puede suceder, no importa contra quien compitas, todos surfean muy bien, en esa instancia ya es cuestión de quien sea más inteligente y tenga mayor suerte con las olas. Me siento muy orgulloso de llevar este puesto 17 para México.
Además de competir en el Billabong ASP World Junior Championships, Lozano visitó diferentes rompientes australianas como Snapper Rocks y Duranbah Beach (Gold Coast) entre otras. En ésta última locación tomó parte del “Rip Curl King of Coolly”, donde fue entrevistado por Mark Flanagan (event manager de Rip Curl). Ángelo respondió diversas preguntas sobre el Rip Curl Search realizado el pasado año en México y sobre su participación en los Trials de esa parada del tour Fosters ASP World Champonship. Dicha entrevista será utilizada para el video promocional del Rip Curl Search WCT que se realizará este año en Chile.
RUMBO A CHILE
El próximo 16 de febrero Ángelo Lozano estará compitiendo en el Reef Classic Chile, segunda parada del año del tour ALAS que se realizará en las olas de Reñaca, y será la primera presentación del 2007 para el surfista mexicano en el tour latino. Este año la gira latina será por partida doble para el integrante del team Squalo, gracias a las modificaciones que ALAS realizó en la categoría junior (ahora se llamará Junior Pro y los participantes deberán ser menores de 21 años de edad) Ángelo dará batalla en Open y Junior a la vez.
Tuve que tomar la decisión de no participar en el Mexpipe de Puerto Escondido para no perderme la fecha de ALAS, este año mi prioridad es afianzarme en el plano internacional y el tour ALAS es una buena oportunidad para lograrlo. Es por eso que estaré compitiendo en Open y Junior durante todo el año, manifestó a Surfpress el ascendente surfista mexicano.
En estos días Ángelo Lozano se encuentra en su querido país disfrutando de su familia y ultimando detalles para su próximo destino competitivo.
