NOVA SCHIN FESTIVAL PRESENTED BY BILLABONG
(31 October 9 November)
Live on www.aspworldtour.com and www.billabongpro.com
With a slight swell direction change and increase organisers of the Nova Schin Festival presented by Billabong in Brazil have put the event on hold but will reassess conditions at midday with the hope of completing the remaining heats of round one later today.[/i]With the higher tide this afternoon, it is hoped that conditions at the events home base of Joaquina will improve to a contestable standard as surfers are anxious to get the event underway so they can get down to work.
The forecast now indicates that a large southerly change will arrive within the next few days and with that will be an increase in swell. The originally predicted increase in swell, coming from an easterly direction, has not arrived.
Provided the swell arrives, organisers will look at the option of moving the event two hours south to Imbituba where the majority of the first round was held.
The 10th event on the Fosters ASP Mens World Tour has a waiting period until Wednesday, 9 November and has only three and a half days of competition left to run.
The remaining heats of round one include:
Heat 13
Daniel Wills (AUS) vs Luke Stedman (AUS) vs Tom Curren (USA)
Heat 14
Fred Patacchia (HAW) vs Greg Emslie (ZAF) vs Bernado Pigmeu (BRA)
Heat 15
Tom Whitaker (AUS) vs Raoni Monteiro (BRA) vs Guilherme Herdy (BRA)
Heat 16
Peterson Rosa (BRA) vs Kirk Flintoff (AUS) vs Renan Rocha (BRA)
