In the Yellow Sea, waves are not uncommon during typhoons season, from May to October. Each typhoon crossing the line of Ryukyu islands (draw a line between Japan and Taiwan) is keen to send swell in the dead-end of Yellow Sea, towards Shandong province and its capital city Qingdao.HAINAN, China :
** On the other hand, we keep on receiving e-mails from travellers who need
first-hand information to surf Hainan.
people, you should first have a
look at our Links page and then read below : our mailing list is for you !
A few newsletters ago, we mentioned the fact that this 35.000 square
kilometers island was about to become THE destination of choice for surfers
in China. Today we confirm this trend, once more.
Indeed, we have to face reality : at the moment there is still no
established surf shop or shaper or camping site, and english-speaking
fellows are too rare.
Worse, we have came across some expatriates who have expressed their
unwillingness to see visitors coming in. Damn, what will happen when the
Chinese themselves will start surfing ?! They are 1.5 billion, 7 millions on
Hainan itself ! Cmon guys, you should launch surf schools for the local
kids instead, and teach basic knowledge such as the surf etiquette.
On the other hand, visitors also need to understand their own influence in
and out of the water. Altogether, we are giving birth to a new form of
leisure and, dare we use the word : a new culture. If we could behave like
role models, it would help a lot…

>From this city of Qingdao, you will go West on the highway and get along the
Jiaozhou bay in direction of Xuejiadao village, which lies at the entry of
the peninsula of the same name.
This area is a tourism and holidays haven within the Qingdao Development
Area, a green peninsula and an uncrowded surf spot just 550 kilometers South
of Beijing.
The Golden sand beach is a promise in itself and we won’t say more… we
are at the limit of our own code of conduct by making public a good spot
right in mainland China. Huh, by the way, there is more to be surfed all
around, of course.
Newer news in our next newsletter.
Sincerely yours,
The Crew.
