SUNSET BEACH, Oahu/Hawaii (Friday, November 27, 2009) – After two consecutive lay-days and an observed holiday yesterday, the Gidget Pro Sunset Beach, will launch into action at 12pm today in five-to-seven foot (2 metre) surf at the iconic venue of Sunset Beach.Event No. 7 of 8 on the 2009 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Gidget Pro Sunset Beach is a vital event in the hunt for the 2009 ASP Women’s World Title and holds the dual importance of being the second event in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing (an ASP Specialty Series).
“We’ve got fun surf on offer right now and are expecting the swell to hold throughout the day,” Randy Rarick, Gidget Pro Sunset Beach Contest Director, said. “We’ll run the Trials today as well as Rounds 1 and 2 of the main event.”
In addition to potentially determining the 2009 ASP Women’s World Title, the Gidget Pro Sunset Beach will play a critical role in several competitors’ campaigns towards requalifying for the 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour.
