Surfing Photos of Thai Muang

Back to Thailand Surf Photo Gallery

Thai Muang is one of the most underrated surf spots in Thailand, located just north of Phuket. These surfing photos of Thai Muang show the kind of waves you can expect when the swell hits this open stretch of coastline.

Compared to Phuket’s more popular beaches, Thai Muang offers much more space and far fewer crowds. The long sandy beach can produce fun, clean waves, especially when the sandbanks line up properly during the surf season.

This gallery gives you a feel for the wave shape, beach setup, and overall vibe. On the right day, Thai Muang can deliver some of the best uncrowded sessions in the region.

Surfing at Thai Muang

Thai Muang works best during the southwest monsoon when swell moves into the Andaman Sea. The beach break here is generally forgiving, but can offer longer rides when conditions come together.

  • Best season: May to October
  • Wave type: Sand bottom beach break
  • Level: Beginner to intermediate
  • Crowds: Very quiet compared to Phuket
