Over the years we’ve stayed in, visited or been around many of these places. Some we know personally, and others are solid budget options in good locations.

If you want something simple, affordable and close to the beach, this is a good place to start.

Bang Tao Beach Guesthouses

Best area for surf lessons 🌊

Bang Tao is a great area for a long beach, easy access to restaurants and a relaxed feel. It’s also the best place to stay if you’re planning to learn to surf in Phuket.

Surin Beach Guesthouses

Surin Beach is one of Phuket’s most scenic beaches with a relaxed feel. Good if you want something quieter but still central to Bang Tao and Kamala.

Kamala Beach Guesthouses

Kamala Beach is a relaxed area with plenty of restaurants and a slower pace than Patong. Good for longer stays and a more local feel.

Patong Guesthouses

Patong is Phuket’s busiest area with nightlife, shopping and lots of restaurants. Budget stays are usually slightly back from the beach.

Nai Yang / Nai Thon

Quieter areas near the airport. Good for a relaxed stay away from the busy beach towns.
