Phuket Town Hotels and Resorts

Phuket Town is a very different stay from the beach areas. You do not come here for a lazy beach resort holiday. You stay here for Old Phuket Town, local food, markets, shopping, business, hospitals, ferries, bus connections or because you want to see a more local side of Phuket than the west coast tourist strips.

Old Phuket Town

It can be a good choice for a couple of nights, especially if you want to wander around the old Sino-Portuguese streets, eat well, visit the weekend market or use it as a practical base before moving on. Just remember, Phuket Town is not on the beach. If you book here and then complain the sea is not outside the lobby, that one is probably on you.

This page lists a selection of hotels around Phuket Town and the Boat Lagoon area. Use the Agoda links to check current room prices, photos and availability before booking.

Phuket Town Hotels

Twin Inn Hotel

(budget Phuket Town stay)

Twin Inn Hotel is one of the simpler budget-style options in Phuket Town. It can suit travellers who mainly need a practical room for a night or two, rather than a resort holiday with pools, views and someone handing you a cold towel every time you blink.

This kind of hotel is usually more about price and location than charm. It may work if you are using Phuket Town as a base for transport, business, shopping or a short stop before heading to the beaches. Check the current photos and map carefully before booking.

Rome Place Hotel

(simple central Phuket Town hotel)

Rome Place Hotel is another lower-priced Phuket Town option. It is the sort of place to check if you want to be in town and keep accommodation costs down, especially if the hotel is only a base for sleeping while you are out exploring, eating or sorting out travel plans.

Phuket Town has plenty of local food, markets and older streets to wander around, but it is not a beach area. If you stay here, plan your beach days separately and allow time for transport. For a short town stay, simple hotels like this can be enough.

Phuketa Hotel

(Rassada / Phuket Town area)

Phuketa Hotel is set around the Rassada side of Phuket Town. It can suit travellers who need access to the town area, the bypass road or ferry and transport connections, rather than visitors who want to be right in the middle of Old Town.

This can be practical with transport, but check the location carefully before booking. Phuket Town is spread out, and staying in the wrong part can mean a lot more taxi time than you expected. Not the end of the world, but not exactly holiday poetry either.

Bhukitta Boutique Hotel

(Phuket Town / bus station area)

Bhukitta Boutique Hotel is a useful Phuket Town option if you want to stay near the town centre and transport side of things. It is a better fit for short stays, city exploring or connecting through Phuket Town than for a beach holiday.

The location can be handy if you are using the bus station, heading to the pier or planning to spend time around Old Town. Check the latest photos and room details on Agoda before booking, as town hotels can vary a fair bit between older and newer room sections.

The Sky Dream Hotel

(outside the main Old Town area)

The Sky Dream Hotel is outside the main Old Phuket Town walking area, so it is better for travellers with transport or people who need to stay on this side of town. It is not the best pick if you want to walk straight out into the old streets, cafes and night market area.

If you have a car or motorbike, staying a little further out can be fine and sometimes better value. If you are relying on walking, tuk-tuks and taxis, check the location carefully. Phuket Town is not huge, but it is still big enough to punish lazy map reading.

Old Town and Central Phuket Town Hotels

Royal Phuket City Hotel

(larger central Phuket Town hotel)

Royal Phuket City Hotel is one of the larger hotels in Phuket Town and can be a practical choice if you want more facilities than a small guesthouse. It is useful for business stays, town exploring or a night or two before heading elsewhere on the island.

This is a town hotel, not a resort beach stay. It works best if you want Old Town, restaurants, shopping centres, government offices, hospitals or transport connections nearby. If you want waves and sand, you will be getting in a car.

Pearl Hotel

(central Phuket Town)

Pearl Hotel is another older central Phuket Town hotel. It can suit travellers who want a straightforward town base with easy access to local restaurants, shops and the older part of town.

This is a practical city stay rather than a holiday resort. It may be useful for a couple of nights if you want to explore Phuket Town properly before heading to the beaches. Check current photos and room details, especially with older hotels in town.

Sino House Hotel

(Old Town / central Phuket Town area)

Sino House Hotel is one of the better fits if you want to stay around the Old Phuket Town area. It has more of a town-hotel feel and is useful for travellers who want to walk around the old streets, cafes and local restaurants.

Phuket Town is at its best when you slow down a bit: street food, old buildings, coffee shops, local markets and small lanes. A hotel like this makes more sense if that is what you are here for. If you want beach clubs and sand between your toes, keep moving west.

Mei Zhou Phuket Hotel

(small Phuket Town hotel)

Mei Zhou Phuket Hotel is a smaller town hotel, useful if you want something more manageable than the large city hotels. It can suit travellers who want to stay in Phuket Town for food, markets, business or a short stopover.

The main thing is to check how close it is to the specific part of town you want. Old Town, the bus station, shopping areas and ferry connections are all different kinds of convenience, and Phuket Town can make you pay for choosing the wrong one.

Phuket Merlin Hotel

(central Phuket Town hotel)

Phuket Merlin Hotel is a long-running Phuket Town hotel and can be useful if you want a central base for town rather than the beach. It is another practical choice for short stays, local exploring or business in Phuket Town.

As with many older city hotels, the appeal depends on your needs. It may not be the most exciting hotel on the island, but it can be useful if location and convenience matter more than resort polish. Check current photos before booking.

Boat Lagoon Hotel

Boat Lagoon Resort

(Boat Lagoon / Koh Kaew area)

Boat Lagoon Resort is not really Phuket Town in the Old Town sense. It is up in the Boat Lagoon and Koh Kaew area, which can be useful if you are dealing with boats, marinas, yacht services, business around the east coast or travelling between Phuket Town and the airport side.

This is a practical location for the right reason, but it is not where you stay to wander Old Phuket Town at night. It works best with transport and a clear reason for being in the Boat Lagoon area. If you book it thinking it is a beach resort, the boat name may have done too much of the selling.

Phuket Town is a good place to stay if you want culture, food, markets and practical access to town services. It is not a beach holiday area, so choose it for the right reason. For beach time, you will need to travel to the west coast or another beach area.

For current rates, room photos and availability, use the Agoda links or the search box above. I have kept this page focused on town convenience rather than pretending every hotel is a hidden resort paradise, because Phuket Town is better than that when you treat it for what it is.
