Surfing Khao Lak & Phang Nga Thailand

More Information
Khao Lak in Phang Nga is a surfing paradise which has been basically unexplored. There are reef, point and beach breaks unridden everyday. Khao Lak is about 1.5 hours drive north of Phuket Town, which does make it more open to the swells out of the Indian Ocean. This means Khao Lak has slightly bigger waves than Phuket.

Khao Lak was massively damaged by the tsunami in December 2004. In recent times it is returning to be a popular tourist destination in southern Thailand with natural rainforests, elephant trekking, diving, white water rafting and of course surfing. It's the step off point to the Similan islands and Surin Islands. There are plenty of places to stay in Khao Lak too.

The beaches are pristine and mostly deserted and so some surf spots take a little effort to get to them.
Some places to explore are Pakarang Point which is located in Khao Lak itself. There are a lot of places to surf in Phang Nga some are easy to find and some quite difficult to access, but while you are exploring Phang Nga you will see many other sights and attractions, rain forest, waterfalls, hot springs.

We have done our best to go surfing in Thailand as much as possible and to include our personal experiences of this beach and other surf spots in Thailand-Since 2000, we are the original surfing Phuket guide someone's gotta do it!!
