Getting to Kata Noi Beach
Kata Noi is a popular surf spot in Phuket and has quality waves. Getting to Kata Noi, you head south out of Kata Yai, turn right at the T-intersection and follow the road around the headland to Kata Noi Beach.
This beach is dominated by Katathani Phuket Beach Resort. The surfable waves are usually off the northern headland.
Surfing Kata Noi
The waves can be fast and at times, the surf can get really good here. The main wave is a right hand wave breaking near the northern headland on a deep reef. There are also nice beach breaks when it is smaller in the middle of the beach.

Kata Noi is one of the first surfing beaches that gained popularity in the 90s.
The atmosphere in the surf here can sometimes be a bit unfriendly, but if you are cool the locals will be too.
Local Note
Kata Noi is a beautiful little beach, but it is not always the easiest place to surf. The northern end can be faster and more powerful than Kata Yai, and there are rocks and reef around the headland area. If you are still learning, the middle of the beach on a smaller clean day is the better option, or head back around to Kata Yai where there are usually more beginner-friendly surf lessons and board rentals during the surf season.
Learning to Surf Near Kata Noi
Kata Noi can have good waves on the right day, but it is not always the best place for beginners. There are surf lessons available nearby at Kata Yai Beach during the surf season, and Bang Tao Beach is usually a more protected option for learning.
