Surfing Laem Sing Beach
Updated for 2026
Laem Sing, also often written Laem Singh, is a small hidden beach between Kamala and Surin. It was once a busy little beach with stalls and easy access, but these days normal access is blocked and the beach is usually very quiet.

| Other | Best for bodyboarding |

Getting to Laem Sing Beach
Laem Sing is 20 minutes north of Patong. You can’t see the beach from the road and there were two small parking areas about half way up the hill past the north end of Kamala Beach, or further along just before Surin Beach, but now a private land owner has moved in and blocked foot access to the beach.
The old easy access from the road is no longer available. These days the main options are by longtail boat from Kamala Beach or Surin Beach, or by the small coastal pathway from Surin Beach that leads around the headland. The path is not a proper maintained beach access, so take care if you use it.
Local Note
Laem Sing used to have beach stalls and more people around, but now the beach is mostly empty because access is blocked. Bring water, footwear and anything else you need, because you should not expect normal beach services there. It is a beautiful little bay, but it is no longer the easy roadside beach stop it used to be.
Surfing Laem Sing
The rock formations along Laem Sing Beach offer some very fast surfing waves, excellent for bodyboards. Laem Sing can be surfed on most tides and picks up even the smallest swell.
The waves here are usually better suited to bodyboarding or experienced surfers who know how to handle short, fast beach and rock-affected waves. It is not a beach we would recommend for beginner surfers.

Learning to Surf Near Laem Sing
Laem Sing is not a good beginner surf beach. The waves are fast, the beach has rocks around it, and access is awkward. If you want to learn to surf in Phuket, Bang Tao Beach is usually the more protected option, especially around the southern end. There are also surf lessons available at Kata Beach during the surf season.
